Professional Experience

Jill Smith has been with Roy, Simmons, Smith & Parsons, P.S., since 2005. She was admitted to practice in Washington and Oregon in 2000.

Jill has extensive experience in the fields of municipal and school district defense, insurance defense litigation, employment law and appellate law. Jill is a member of the Oregon and the Washington State Bar Associations, and the Whatcom County Bar Association. Jill is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and has also had several cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jill’s prior legal experience includes acting as a judicial clerk for Judge Walt Edmonds of the Oregon Court of Appeals from 2000-2002 and two years as an Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice.

Education

Jill received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wheaton College in 1994 and earned her Juris Doctor from Willamette University with honors in 2000.
